    Get PDF
This study proposes a method that can easily grasp the relationship between the actual machine and the graphs. In recent years, there has been a lot of research on augmented reality displays. The fields of research range from education to welfare. In the development of control systems, when evaluating the performance of a system by simulation or experiment, the results are often checked as graphs. Since the graphs are checked on a PC using CAD or other means, it is difficult to know which part of the actual machine each graph corresponds to. Therefore, we developed a tool that displays graphs in augmented reality around the actual machine through a camera on a mobile terminal. To display graphs in augmented reality, it is important to obtain the coordinates of the actual machine and display them in a location associated with the device. Therefore, a USD model with the same shape and size as the actual machine is used. This is achieved by displaying the USD model in augmented reality so that it is superimposed on the actual machine. The accuracy of the tool was also examined and its usefulness was evaluated.22nd International Conference on Control, Automation and Systems ,ICCAS 2022, November 27 - December 1, 2022, Busan, Korea (Hybrid conference

Channel bonding technology, which bundles multiple adjacent channels for frame transmission, is one of the promising way for improving throughput performance in IEEE802.11ac wireless LANs. However, channel bonding technology leads to co-channel interference with other access points (APs) within the bonded channels. In our previous study, we investigated transmission performance of several commercially-available 802.11ac APs. As a result, we clarified three communication procedures from difference in method of implementation of Request To Send (RTS) / Clear To Send (CTS) or not. Furthermore, we investigated the impact of RTS/CTS on transmission performance by conducting experiments where two APs using RTS/CTS are competing in a bonded channels. However, we have not investigated transmission performance in the case that APs with different transmission procedures compete with each other in a bonded channels. Therefore, in this study, we conducted experiments using real WLAN products. Then, we compared and evaluated the communication performance in the case that two APs with different transmission procedures compete in the same channel. As a result, we showed that the AP employing CTS-to-self doesn’t set duration time in CTS frames, thereby the communication performance of the AP using RTS/CTS in channel bonding degrades due to frequent collisions in conflict channel. On the other hand, since AP not using RTS/CTS dynamically adjusts the number of data frames for each transmission opportunity to avoid frame collisions, we confirmed that the communication performance can be relatively maintained even under the competitive environment. Bangkok, Thailan

Dissolution Processes at Step Edges of Calcite in Water Investigated by High-Speed Frequency Modulation Atomic Force Microscopy and Simulation

The microscopic understanding of the crystal growth and dissolution processes have been greatly advanced by the direct imaging of nanoscale step flows by atomic force microscopy (AFM), optical interferometry, and X-ray microscopy. However, one of the most fundamental events that govern their kinetics, namely, atomistic events at the step edges, have not been well understood. In this study, we have developed high-speed frequency modulation AFM (FM-AFM) and enabled true atomic-resolution imaging in liquid at ∼1 s/frame, which is ∼50 times faster than the conventional FM-AFM. With the developed AFM, we have directly imaged subnanometer-scale surface structures around the moving step edges of calcite during its dissolution in water. The obtained images reveal that the transition region with typical width of a few nanometers is formed along the step edges. Building upon insight in previous studies, our simulations suggest that the transition region is most likely to be a Ca(OH)2 monolayer formed as an intermediate state in the dissolution process. On the basis of this finding, we improve our understanding of the atomistic dissolution model of calcite in water. These results open up a wide range of future applications of the high-speed FM-AFM to the studies on various dynamic processes at solid-liquid interfaces with true atomic resolution. © 2017 American Chemical Society.Embargo Period 12 month

Following a survey of the population size of a tiger beetle species, Cylindera elisae(Motschulsky,1859) in the Tottori Sand Dunes, Tottori City, in 2015 (Tsurusaki et al.2016), we estimated population size of the same population of the same species also in 2016 by using mark-recapture experiments. A total of 270 adults of Cy. elisae , 170 adults of Chaetodera laetescripta (Motschulsky, 1860) and 4 adults of Myriochila speculifera (Chevrolat, 1865) (This species was erroneously recorded as Cicindela transbaicalica japanensis Chaudoir, 1863 in Tsurusaki et al. 2016) were individually marked during the summer in 2016. None of those adults marked were recaptured for the two latter species. The highest number of adults of Cy. elisae estimated by the Jolly-Seber method was ca. 1,460 recorded on both 28 June and 16 July

Important questions to progress science and sustainable management of anguillid eels

Anguillid eels are found globally in fresh, transitional and saline waters and have played an important role in human life for centuries. The population status of several species is now of significant concern. The threats to populations include direct exploitation at different life stages, blockages to migratory routes by dams and other structures, changes in river basin management that impact habitat carrying capacity and suitability, pollution, climate change, diseases and parasites. While much has been done to understand eel biology and ecology, a major challenge is to identify the key research and management questions so that effective and targeted studies can be designed to inform conservation, management and policy. We gathered 30 experts in the field of eel biology and management to review the current state of knowledge for anguillid eel species and to identify the main topics for research. The identified research topics fell into three themes: (a) Lifecycle and Biology; (b) Impacts and (c) Management. Although tropical anguillid eels are by far the least well understood, significant knowledge gaps exist for all species. Considerable progress has been made in the last 20 years, but the status of many species remains of great concern, particularly for northern temperate species. Without improved engagement and coordination at the regional, national and international level, the situation is unlikely to improve. Further, adaptive management mechanisms to respond to developments in science, policy and our knowledge of potential threats are required to ensure the future of these important and enigmatic species

An Intra-Oral Interface to Affect a Taste Change Continuously by Using Electrical Stimulation with Periodic Intervals

    No full text
Recently, increasing attention has been paid to the health impacts and lifestyle diseases due to the excessive intake of salt and sugar. To address this problem, there have been studies to control taste by the electrical stimulation of food and drink through tableware. However, it is not possible to realize a change of taste during the chewing food and drinking with this approach. Therefore, we consider that a change of taste is also required during chewing in order to achieve satisfied consumption. In this study, we develop an intra-oral interface to effect a taste change continuously by using electrical stimulation. We performed preliminary experiments to measure the sensitivity of the tongue by the position and area of an electrode. Then, we developed an interface to take into account the results of the experiments. We confirmed the effectiveness of the proposed interface through experiments examining the intensity of taste when using the developed interface. Moreover, by having periodic intervals to electrical stimulation by the PWM control, the proposed interface was confirmed to improve the intensity of taste continuously
